Theatre STACY MAKISHI – LIVE ART SOCIAL (DISTANCED) CLUB

10am

24/10/2020 - 24/10/2020

An event that’s all about connection

Connection is that oxytocin-rich-‘energy shake’ shared between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they feel they can show up and share without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.

Live Art Social (distance) Club cultivates connection.

Connection between us.
Connection to mystery, inspiration and creativity.
Connection to our own inner life.

Participants will:
Explore what happens if we drop our armour and ‘show up’ as imperfect, messy and raw. Recognise perfectionism as the killer of creativity. It makes starting, persisting and finishing impossible. Say goodbye to comparing ourselves to others. Realise that if we don’t use our creative gifts, it will come back and kick our ass. Acknowledge that if we truly love and want something (like being creative) – we have to be willing to do it badly. Realise that creativity is our birthright. It’s not just for the ‘naturally creative’. Understand that the only unique contribution that we’ll ever make in this world will be born out of our creativity. This event is part of Black Gold Arts Festival 2020.

ABOUT STACY MAKISHI
Stacy Makishi is a transplant from Hawaii who found paradise in Dalston, East London. Like a bonsai plant, Stacy is small but old. She’s been making art for over 30 years. A cross-fertilisation of live art, theatre, comedy, film and visual art, her work is as complex as it is accessible; humorous as it is challenging; visual as it is literate. It ranges across solo performances for stage, large-scale outdoor participatory projects and intimate one-to-ones.

Also a teacher, director, mentor and life coach in international demand, Stacy believes in the transformative power of art. She strives to share her creative process with others in order to put more aloha into the world.
